Awards presented at 37th Annual Meeting of the Compact. August 10, 2023

The Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts, Inc. held its 37th annual meeting in Brewster on August 10th.  The event was held at Ocean Edge Resort and hosted by the Brewster Conservation Trust.

At the meeting, attended by 120 people, two awards were announced.

Tom Fudala, retired after 30+ years as Mashpee’s first Town Planner, was given the Mark Robinson Award for excellence as a professional in open space protection.  For more on Tom’s accomplishments click HERE.

The Ansel B. Chaplin Award for excellence in open space protection as a volunteer went to Ramona Peters, founder of the Native Land Conservancy and elder in the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.  More on Ramona HERE.

The Compact’s 2022 audited financial reports and tax returns were approved by vote, a quorum being present.

The slate of officers for 2022-23 were announced:

Leonard W. Johnson, Falmouth, President

Colin Leonard, Harwich, First VP

Fred Gaechter, Truro, Second VP

Jaci Barton, Barnstable, Second VP

Henry Lind, Eastham, Treasurer

Janet Milkman, Barnstable, Clerk

Mass. Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Rebecca Tepper was the featured speaker.
